Okay, I missed a dissection lab in anatomy because she scheduled it on a day I had a big test in another class. So I was given a huge assignment to complete in its place. I’ve finished all of it except this section… which has me totally confused.
I’ve included my answers which I KNOW are wrong. Any help would be appreciated. I’m completely lost!
“For this part of your assignment, you will be describing how to hammer a nail, from the standpoint of the muscles involved. You will need to describe each action in terms of the muscle, the action, and the joint. For example, if you were to describe nodding the head forward you could say “The sternocleidomastoid muscle flexes the neck.” To assist you I have listed each action in the process of hammering a nail.
a. Grip the hammer.
b. Grasp the nail with thumb and index finger.
c. Tap nail using the wrist.
d. Release the nail.
e. Pound the nail with action of the forearm at the elbow.
My answers…? (yeah, I know.)
a. Flexor digitorum flexes the hand
b. The lumbricals flex the knuckle
c. Flexor digitorum extend and flex wrist
d. The lumbricals extend knuckle
e. The triceps extend and flex the elbow
